At the bottom of the list, reviewers complain about long waits and stores that are hard to get help in. "Too much wait time at click and collect more than 1 hour," one Chadstone Village shopper wrote. In Edgecliff, another reviewer noted there was "No option for someone to scan your items", and in Dickson, one asked: "What kind of supermarket has run out of roast beef and rotisserie chickens by 6pm on a Monday?"

Mildura in Victoria is fourth at 4.34, Schofields in Sydney sixth, Currambine in Perth seventh, and Huntlee in Branxton and Mayfield in Newcastle eighth and ninth.

Method
How we did it
We used the DataForSEO Business Listings database to pull the Google Maps listings for Coles, Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets across Australia on October 5, 2026.
We kept the Coles supermarkets, including smaller Coles Local stores, that were open and had at least 200 Google reviews. Separate listings for liquor, petrol, online and express sites, closed stores and duplicate listings at the same address were left out. That left 830 stores, 622,155 reviews in all.
Each store was ranked by its exact average rating, worked out from its count of one, two, three, four and five-star reviews rather than the rounded score Google displays, so stores that show the same rating on Google are still put in order. Where two stores have exactly the same average, the one with the larger share of one-star reviews ranks lower.
State and territory averages give every store equal weight (the mean of the store averages), and every state and territory has at least seven Coles in the ranking. The Woolworths and Aldi figures use the same pull and the same rules.
