The PBN business model creates its own footprints.
Operators buy expired domains with residual authority at auction, point them at cheap hosting, fill them with spun or AI-generated content, and sell placements. The margin only works if they spend almost nothing per site, and every saving leaves a mark: thin undated articles, dead categories, no readers, templates reused across the network. A PBN can't afford to look like a working publication, because those are expensive to run. That cost constraint is why networks stay detectable.
